This guide will help users add new languages to their Shopify store via the Settings panel so that both app content and store content can be displayed in multiple languages.

Step-by-Step: Adding a New Language in Shopify


1. Log in to Your Shopify Admin

Visit https://admin.shopify.com and log in to your store’s admin dashboard.

2. Go to Settings

In the lower-left corner, click on Settings.

3. Select "Languages"

Inside the Settings page, click on Languages. This page shows which languages are already active in your store.

4. Click “Add Language”

Click the Add language button to choose a new language.

5. Choose a Language

From the dropdown list, select the language you want to add, such as French, German, Indonesian, etc.

Then click Next.

  • Then, check the box to activate the newly created language and assign it to the domain.
  • Click the Done button.

  • After that, the new language will appear with a red indicator.

  • Change its status from Unpublished to Published.
  • A popup will appear — click the Publish button.

  • The new language has now been successfully added.
